School History

Jewett School of the Arts opened in 1964 and was opened as Jewett Elementary. Robert King was the first Principal. It was initially a Kindergarten – 6th grade school (for African Americans only), and later became a 6th grade center for the Winter Haven area, due to integration. In 1993 it became a Pre-K – 5th grade school, and in 1994 a School of Choice for the Arts. Jewett Serves 745 students. The Jaguar is the school mascot. As a school of the arts, Jewett offers Theatre, Art 2D & 3D, Orchestra, Band, Chorus, Dance, and is a STEAM Magnet School. The principal is Michael A. Sears.
